I remember the only bridal show I attended when I was planning my wedding. It was overwhelming. I came home with all sorts of random freebees, a stomach full of snacks, and no clear idea of who to hire. As a wedding coordinator, I have always been hesitant to participate in a show, and it wasn't until I discovered The Big Fake Wedding that I decided to give it a try.
The Big Fake Wedding gives a wedding show a fun, intimate twist. Instead of shoving a ton of vendors into a large space and letting brides, grooms, and entourage roam around aimlessly, The Big Fake Wedding throws a wedding featuring a couple renewing their vows. They bring in local vendors to each event, and guests can interact with the them first hand.
This event was so much fun! As the coordinator, I rehearsed and ran the ceremony. I also designed the send-off at the end of the night for Patricia and Frank, our bride and groom for the evening.
All of the vendors followed an inspiration board that depicted the wedding style. It described a bride who was sophisticated, loved fashion, and got everything she wanted. The colors were light blue, black, and gold. I wanted to keep the sendoff simple but also sophisticated and glamorous. One day, while watching The Bachelorette (yes, inspiration does strike randomly!), the idea came to me. Tossing long stem roses.
All the vendors and staff were a blast to work with. The bride and groom were smiling. The ceremony brought happy tears. The flowers were dreamy. The dress was stunning. The cake was straight out of a fairytale. There were even pie pops.
It's the unique details that make your wedding unique. I love finding vendors that are out of the box. Melody Wed creates custom first dance songs. Check out the song she wrote for our couple! Silvi at The Poetry Store writes poetry on demand for your guests. Chick Design Boutique can laser cut cake toppers, table numbers, you name it. You can check out the entire vendor list here.
The event was featured on Ruffled yesterday! Check out the gallery, as well as Ruffled's post for more photos from our photographers. More to come next week with my reflection on preparing for a wedding show.
